Here we go again!

It seems like the beginning of the school year is actually where we set goals and make plans for the coming year, more so for me than Jan. 1st. Every year I tell myself, this is the year I am going to be on top of things - breakfast for everyone, (even though they all leave at different times), scripture study, family prayer, snacks when they get home, homework done quickly and efficiently, organized place for notes to be signed, me following all 18 teachers blogs for the latest updates to keep my kids on track, attendance at sporting events, dinner on the table for everyone together, clean house organized etc...
Does it ever go that way? No!! In the first place, I would not classify myself as an organized person. Am I trying to be, yes (after all, I just spent about 35 min. trying to bookmark all of the teacher blogs or add them to mine - forgot to hit save, so wasted effort) I have read all of the letters sent home from back to school night, filled out all of the school paperwork and all of the get to know you sheets for the kids, paid all the fee's and eagerly await the pile of disclosures to sign this afternoon! :) I really wish there was a magic pill for me to take that would make organization come easily to me, but alas, I have not found one! The next flaw in my plan is I am really not a morning person, as much as I would like to be, I really struggle with this. I have a hard time sleeping and going to sleep and then it is morning and suddenly I am ready to really get some good sleep!! The next problem is having 5 kids with different schedules that all need you to get them around and be there to support and help with reading and homework etc. Sometimes I wish the teachers would realize that it is really hard for parents to do what I refer to as 'parent homework' (you know the kind where no way can your kid do it on their own.) and realize that a lot of us have more than one or 2 kids and all of that homework adds up! If any of you have great ideas on how to stay on top of things, please share!
That being said, I am really excited for this year and all of the possibilities. 1st year of HS for Austin, I hope he makes a lot of new friends!! 1st year of JR. High for Bryson, he is so excited! Caden the big man on Campus at the Elem. and Bryn in 3rd grade, so excited for this year, then my baby Brie in 1st grade! All in school for the whole day, all have good teachers and I think good attitudes!! Greg gave them all priesthood blessings last night and I have a very positive out look for this year! I am sure there will be ups and downs, there always are, but here's to hope and lot's of prayer!!

Just reading that makes me a bit anxious on when they all are on different schedules. I hope to have a chauffer, nanny, and maid by then :) I think you do an amazing job, and that's what it is a JOB! I don't think there is a way to completely have it under control, you just do the daily things and stay on top of it. If you find that pill, let me know.

Love you!

p.s. cute kids

I'm tired for all of you. Just do your best. His grace is sufficient!

I don't think I could have done it with 5. (Four in school was the most I ever had to deal with and at that time, 2 were in junior high and 2 in high school)

All you can do is your best. The last thing you need (or they need) is for you to run yourself into the ground. I know you can do it.

I hope they have a great year.

One day at a time...if you look much further than that it gets too overwhelming. Just realize some days are going to go much better than other's. Hopefully there are WAY more better days than "other" days!!! :D
