Last year for Christmas, my parents gave each family and large empty jar. We were asked to use this jar during the coming year to gather loose change. At Christmas time this year we are supposed to use what we have saved to help someone else. I felt like we were off to a good start when my children all donated their Christmas coins from their great grandma and grandpa, that very day. Last night we went to the coin machine in Walmart to see how much we had saved... it turned out to be $38.62! We were pretty excited about that! (Although the kids are not sure why the machine kept our coins and now we just have paper money!! It doesn't look like nearly the same amount!!)
We have discussed what we can do as a family... it is obviously not enough to do Sub- for Santa, we could take a few things of the angel tree's, we thought about buying the fleece and making blankets for the homeless... I just don't know! We really want this to be something that the kids participate in and get the true meaning of Christmas from. Any suggestions?

What a great idea!!
I think the angel tree is perfect.
Good luck.
I also think the angel tree is wonderful. Have the kids be the ones to pick out the gifts and pay for them. They will love it.
i think that is awesome, i like the angel tree idea or the fleec blankets...maybe do those for the children's hospital??
What a great idea! I may have to steal it!
I want to steal the idea as well! Let me know what you decided to do! What is your address? I can send you a late Christmas card!
