Treasured moments!

Another night out on the back porch with Grandpa and Grandma Evans

Now...do these two look like they listen to anything or anyone for very long?!

Last night we went to visit with my grandparents. We try to do this often, but it is usually on Sunday evenings! Anyway... I think I have written before about those pictures that your mind takes and holds dear.... those moments when you wish you had a camera, but have to rely on your heart to hold it dear instead. Last night I had one of those moments. I was inside talking with my grandma and I looked out to the back porch and saw my oldest son and his cousin listening intently to my grandpa talking. I was struck by how he seemed to be riveted to my grandpa's face and that he was actually holding still and paying attention! I wondered what they were talking about, but I did not want to interrupt! I just thought to myself how lucky I am to still have my grandparents with us and that my kids love, know and respect them as well! What a great moment! One great man sharing his wisdom with his great grandsons.
I later found out that they were talking about guns and WWII... something that my grandpa rarely if ever talks about. I have encouraged Austin to write down the stories he was told as it was a rare moment for my grandpa to share anything about the war. Anyway, I am thankful for those special treasured moments that come along to make us grateful for who we are and what we have!

Treasured moments always include loved ones. So cool when those moments span 4 generations.

As a young parent, I found grandparents could teach my kids special things I could not. Now that I am a grandparent myself, that is much less apparent. But keep your generations close. There is great value in family roots.

I love those moments. Every time I am with Grandpa and Grandma Evans, and Grandma Heath I have those moments. They are few and too far between for me. That is one of the few times I wish I lived just a little closer. So I could have more moments before it is too late!

what treasured memories, hopefully Austin won't forget them and write them down.
