Wow! It has been a busy month - crazy actually! I remember thinking it was a great time of year to have babies in May - that was before they were in school with all of the final things that happen in May!! now with 3 may birthdays and the close out of school, it gets insane! Add the restaurant and catering into the mix and I don't know where the month goes?!
Today was special as 2 of my boys received and advanced in the Priesthood. I am so proud of my boys and their choices to be good and try hard to be worthy of the blessing of holding the Priesthood of God. It blesses their lives and ours.
We celebrated their b-days with a cousin sleepover and a trip to Avengers with friends and cousins and dinner with mom and dad for Bryson, and breakfast with Dad and buying a phone with mom for Caden.
Brie turns 7 this week and she could not be more excited - she is expecting a big party... hmmm, not sure how we are going to pull that one off!
My last few weeks with Sadie (our horse) has been eye opening as well. It is funny the things we can learn with animals - mostly about ourselves. She is very stubborn, smart and curious and nervous. Not the best combination! I called a trainer to see what she did and what she would charge - I found out that she charged $400 per month to basically come and ride her 5 days a week to get her over her 'spookies' and any other 'issues' I was having with her. That may seem like a great deal to some, but to me it was the motivation I needed to 'cowgirl up' and realize that I do have the experience to work with her myself. The funny thing is - I can get frustrated and she can make me nuts sometimes ( I am also learning to be patient through those moments of frustration and stay relatively calm) - but when we finally work something out and I get her to do what I want her to do - I am sooo happy! And it gives me such a sense of accomplishment! The great thing is - she is smart and I rarely have to go over the same thing again - or she at least gets over it quicker. I think she is learning that I am stubborn too, even a little smart and curious about what she can do - I am not spooky and hope that will come through to her sooner than later! She really is sweet and I am loving her. I still have so very much to learn, but that is part of the journey. I love sharing time with Brie around the horse - she is the one showing the most interest. I find it funny that our of all 5 kids, she is the only one really interested. Hopefully that will change as she becomes better trained and calmer, but I love watching Brie brush her and kiss her nose! She asked me tonight 'Mom why do you love horses besides riding them?' I answered that I loved how they smell, listening to them eat, watching them move, and just think they are a beautiful animal. She hugged me from behind as she was riding behind me on Sadie and said 'Mom, I can tell that you really love horses and I love that about you!' How sweet is that?! Anyway... on to another week and more lessons to learn!

I have one with a May birthday as well. But really when he was growing up school didn't end until mid-June, so May didn't seem so crazy ; )

Sounds like everyone had fun birthdays so far.

Congratulations on the Priesthood advancements--it is wonderful.

Love that you are enjoying the experience with your horse. Way to go. Love the little comment from Brie--that is VERY SWEET.
