I used to LOVE Halloween! I can't say how many haunted houses I have been too, I loved decorating and dressing up and just having fun! now... I am the mom! I don't like coming up with 5 or more costumes on a budget of next to nothing! Candy is so expensive and I am worn out just trying to come up with ways to make tomorrow fun! Decorations? Who knows where I put them? Not me for sure! I think my Halloween 'duldrums' is more a case of where the heck did October go? I would love to invent a way to stop time just long enough to catch up! Although I highly suspect that it is an impossible quest! Somehow, someway, I need to figure out how to live in the moment and enjoy it! Organization is not my strong point, yet the one that I think I need the most. I have mastered flying by the seat of my pants (yes, it's usually on my broom too!) Why does time management elude me? Maybe it is my A.D.D? (I've never been officially diagnosed, but am convinced I have it!) I don't know... but I hate feeling like I am always in 'survivor mode' and reacting to everything instead of being proactive. I obviously do not have the answers... just venting a little!! So enough of that!
This week I made a delicious homemade mac and cheese just with ingredients I had on hand! I felt like a real cook!! Then I also experimented with making pumpkin/caramel cinnamon rolls - they were delicious as well! And to sum it all up I tried my hand at my friend Kelly Booth's yummy Zuppa Tuscano soup! Yum! A good week in the kitchen! I often say that I feel funny owning and operating a restaurant as I am not a trained cook or chef by any means... just a mom and home cook! I feel a little bit validated after this weekend, cause I think it all turned out great!! :)
And on a final and much higher note.... this weekend I was happy to attend the baptism of a dear friend of mine and her daughter. I am so excited and happy for her! She is an amazing lady with such strength and light. She suffered a severe stroke at the age of 29 and has come back from that so that you wouldn't know it. She is a single mother of 3 beautiful girls and a survivor in more ways than I can say. She is always an example to me and I love her!! We also had the opportunity of attending Regional Conference in Ogden where we were addressed by some amazing people and our dear Prophet, Thomas S. Monson. What a treat! The messages were beautiful as was the music. I came away with a lot to ponder and put into action. I will blog more about that this coming week!
Anyway... Happy Halloween!! :)

I feel like time is flying by, too. It's hard to believe it will be November 1 in a couple of days.
I bet you are a GREAT cook.
How wonderful for your friend. So happy for her.
It must have been a wonderful Regional Conference.
Happy Halloween.
Okay I want recipes!!! Especially for the pumpkin cinnamon rolls. YUM!!! I thought conference was AMAZING as well. We were very blessed to hear from the Prophet again in such a short time. Very inspiring meeting. I don't know what happened to me either with regards to Halloween...I used to decorate, get into the the fun of it all. This year, not a single decoration except pumpkins on the porch. Oh well. I still love the little trick or treater's!
Yep, where in the heck did October go? Pure craziness! I am sure you put some amazing costumes together because that is what you do.. amazing things!
It was so fun to see you at Leanne's baptism. What a beautiful event that was. She is incredible.
Love you!
Same as Julie here. Just pumpkins on the porch (which I begged Bryn to carve because I didn't have time). My roasted pumpkins seeds didn't turn out so well this year. I have no idea why. Quincy made her own costume ( I figure if you are over 10 yrs old, you are on your own) and we got take out pizza rather than the home made chili I had planned. So there you have it. I really need those recipes, though! I recently tried Zuppa's tomato soup and LOVED it! And most importantly, I love you!!!
