It's been a long while since I have posted a Music Monday... but I have been thinking a lot about music lately and how it has made such a difference in my life. A few weeks ago I was in one of those moods where it feels like nothing is going right and will never be right again... pretty depressing and I was super frustrated with life and myself - I was in the middle of Primary teaching the kids 'The Church of Jesus Christ' and I started listening to the words I was singing "I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I
know who I am! I
know God's Plan! I'll follow Him in faith. I
BELIEVE in my Savior Jesus Christ. I'll honor His name. I'll do what is right, I'll follow His light. His truth I will proclaim!" It was all I could do to not start crying (hate to scare the kids!) because there it was, in simple words for even someone as hard headed as me to understand! How lucky and blessed I am to belong to this church and have a testimony of it's truthfulness. I
know that I am a daughter of God, I
know that I came to this earth to learn and grow and God prepared a way for me and my family to return to Him and be together forever... what more do I need to know? I just need to follow my Savior Jesus Christ and live a good life and concentrate on getting back to Him. It is that simple - not easy, but simple! I love singing Primary songs and teaching them to the kids as the messages each week are simple and pure and I hope they will play a big part in each of their lives as they build testimonies of their Savior.

Then on a totally different note.... today we played the soundtrack of 'The Man from Snowy River' at work. Oh the memories that invoked! That is my all time
FAVORITE Movie!! It brings back memories of fabulous horse rides with my cousin Brett and my Dad and reminds me of how much I want a horse now!! It's time for me to get back in the sadle again!! It brings back so many memories of, in my mind, an idyllic childhood and youth... (no it was nothing like the show) but much of it was spent around or on horses with my favorite men! Anyway... just listening to it made me happy and nostalgic at the same time!
My friend Martie and I were talking about how great it would be to live in a Musical - where you could sing what you felt and everyone around you would know the right dance to dance with you!! Wouldn't that be awesome?! :) I love music.... with every fiber of my being.... literally!

What a beautiful post, sheri. Isn't it great when the Spirit helps you to recognize things so clearly. (I'm reminded of the quote from Elder Packer in our VT message for this month about revelation when he said, "revelation or inspiration comes by means of words or thoughts communicated to the mind, by sudden enlightenment, by positive or negative feelings about proposed courses of action, or even by inspiring performances, as in the performing arts." "The Primary songs are so wonderful to sing and I love to watch the children as they sing ; )
I love what you said about "it is that simple - not easy but simple". So very true.
I love the picture of you and your horse. What fun memories. We are so blessed to have our memories. (And I love "The Man From Snowy River", too.
Not sure I would like to live in a musical unless somehow I got the ability to sing ; )
Hugs.
I love that picture. I was playing Jessica's Theme on the piano yesterday. It must have been The Man From Snowy River day! :D
