General Conference

I look forward to General Conference for many reasons... it is a break from the usual routine and it provides a much needed solace to my soul and boost to my desire to continue on and to do better.
I thought the first Session this morning was incredible. As always there were so many things that I personally needed to hear.  Some of my favorite quotes are:
"It is not easy to live the gospel of Jesus Christ - it was not easy when He lived... but we know who we are and why we are"  Elder Boyd K. Packer ( I loved his analogy of Gideons Army with us now)
"Now Father I would remind you of the sacred nature of your calling - you have the power of the priesthood directly from the Lord to protect your home. There will times when all that stands as a shield between your family and the adversary's mischief will be that power. You will receive direction of the Lord by the power of the Holy Ghost." Elder Boyd K. Packer  (powerful!)

"There has never been a greater need for increased faith and personal righteousness. There has never been a greater need for strong families and homes"
"The ability to qualify for, receive and act on personal revelation is the single most important skill that can be aquired in this life." Julie B. Beck

"Hope with it's attendant blessing of peace and joy does not depend upon circumstances - the true source of hope is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ"
"Faith is developed by obedience"
Sadness and fear will melt away as we put our faith in our Savior"  Elder Wilford W. Anderson

These are not exact quotes, but as close as I could get writing and listening! I also loved Elder Ballard's talk to Mother's and daughters admonishing us to be the leaders of women in all that is good. The quote that he used that spoke to my heart was - "what you do speaks so loudly I cannot hear what you say."

Anyway - it's probably not a great thing that I need to hear all of these things so many times over - but at least I am listening right? I loved in the closing prayer when he asked for the courage for us to apply what we had learned. Can't wait for the next 3 sessions! What have been your favorites?

P.S I thought of the title of the book I will eventually write!!

The talks were fabulous.

I loved when Pres. Monson was so personal about his wife. I thought Elder Packer talking about the power of the Priesthood and that fathers preside in the home was wonderful.

I know you posted this before the afternoon session, but my goodness, Elder Holland was incredible AGAIN.

I'll have to get my notes out.

Enjoy tomorrow's sessions and have a fabulous Easter.
