I know you have all had those days when you have to just laugh or you would cry and never stop! That was this weekend for me! Friday was supposed to be Father's and Son's overnighter. So I had picked out a movie for the girls and planned on getting things ready for the FHE weekend... cakes, cleaning etc. Well at 6:00 p.m., (2 hours later than planned for departure) Greg calls me and says his truck is broken down at the bottom of the canyon, he's hoping it is the fuel filter, so can I bring him the one in the garage. I was just thankful he hadn't been on his way up the canyon as it is one lane right now! So I drove it down and it was the wrong one (the right one was in the car, but we didn't see it until later that night!) so we drove to checker to get the right one. Then I waited for him to change it. He went to start the truck and nothing! It is the fuel pump that is out! So we went home, called a tow truck and paid $65 for them to tow it home where Greg could work on it! The part is $285! Isn't that exciting? Well it gets more fun by the minute! The boys were really upset that they couldn't go on the camp out, so Greg took them up for the dinner and came back in time to meet the tow truck! The boys slept outside that night. Needless to say, I got nothing done!
Saturday we woke up, had breakfast and went to the Zoo to celebrate Bryson and Caden's birthdays... it was actually Caden's birthday, but since they are 5 days apart we always do them together. Long day at the Zoo! Then went to finish G&G's sprinkler system, so didn't get home until 6:30 or so... cleaned the kitchen, made dinner and left to go shopping for food. By the time I got home, it was 11:30 and I still had 3 cakes to bake! So I went to bed at 1:15 a.m.
Got up Sunday morning and went to put the cooled cakes in the freezer to firm them up for my carving skills and opened the freezer to a pool of melted ice cream and defrosted meat! Yes, the fridge and freezer had died overnight! So then set in the frenzy of trying to salvage what we could and cleaning up the rest. After we took care of that... I decided I needed one more cake and made it, then flipped it out to cool and went to turn it over to save the domed hat (I was making an Indiana Jones hat and Princess cake) and the cake broke in 3 pieces! That is when I officially stopped laughing...I started to cry! Once that was taken care of, I started to make the princess cake and when I inserted the barbie the cake broke in half!! I swore... and Brie said "yea #!*%!" So I started to laugh again and figured... life goes on! To end this fun tale... the FHE went fine and the cake got eaten... the truck is unfinished... and I'm back to cleaning!

Wow! Is this where I spout my little mantra "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain" ? Great job, cuz! You're amazing!
